BH&HPA - Hot Tub Guidance (Wales)
FTAO: BH&HPA Members
Dear BH&HPA Member,
HOT TUBS AND JACUZZIS
Thank you so much for your calls and emails with regard to the update to the Visitor Economy guidance for England on this link which states ’pools, hot tubs and jacuzzis used in self catered accommodation’ are amongst the facilities which should remain closed.
We contacted Westminster Government seeking further clarity and outlining the exclusive usage and impact of this on those who have booked their holiday expecting to use an individual hot tub. The response is that hot tubs and jacuzzis are to be treated in the same way as swimming pools, with the ambition to reopen them by the middle of July.
We continue to engage with Westminster on this and you might raise the issues with English MPs when writing to ask them to join the inaugural meeting of the APPG on Holiday Parks and Campsites (my emails yesterday and on Friday refer).
Meanwhile the Scottish Government has confirmed that in Scotland, hot tubs for sole use of individual self-contained accommodation may be provided and used so long as appropriate hygiene is in place.
Welsh Government has also confirmed that hot tubs for the exclusive use of the household in the accommodation may be opened.
The Health and Safety Executive Legionella Risks during the Coronavirus outbreak says ‘existing control regimes’ should be applied where hot tubs are used and it is of course essential that the requirements of HSE HSG282 are met in your operating procedures.
